Engine Options Overview

There are a staggering seven different powertrain options that spread across eight different trim levels.

There are also three different cab options: regular, extended, and crew. Then there are three different bed lengths. 

Engines and Powertrains

1.     4.3-liter V6/6-speed

2.     5.3-liter V8/6-speed

3.     2.7-liter turbo inline-four/8-speed

4.     5.3-liter V8/8-speed

5.     5.3-liter V8/10-speed

6.     6.2-liter V8/10-speed

7.     3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six/10-speed

The 4.3 and 5.3 liter six speeds come standard on the WT, Custom, and Trail Boss models. The 2.7 liter is standard on the LT and RST. It's also available for the Custom. 

Stepping it up a notch, the 5.3 liter V8 with an 8-speed transmission comes standard on the LTZ and High Country. It's also available for the LT and RST. 

The 5.3 liter 10-speed comes standard on the LT Trail Boss but is also available for the High Country. 

If power is what you're looking for, the 6.2 liter V8 10-speed is available for the Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country. 

For those interested in the diesel engine option, it's available for the LT, RST, LTZ and High Country. 

Available Models 

Chevy made sure that there's a truck for everyone, no matter what your budget or needs are.

We're going to work our way through the eight different trim levels to help you determine which one is right for you. 

1. WT

Are you looking for the next generation of work truck?

This truck is sure to fit the bill with its durable vinyl upholstery and flooring, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and 40/20/40 split front bench that has four-way adjustment. 

These trucks come packed with the latest technology with features like automatic headlights, power windows and locks, USB port, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a six-speaker sound system. 

There's even a rearview camera that'll make hooking up to your trailer a breeze. 

2. Custom 

If you're looking for a little more, then look at the Custom.

It upgrades the WT's 17-inch steel wheels to 20-inch allow wheels. It also has added heated power mirrors, cruise control, and cloth upholstery and carpeting. 

3. Custom Trail Boss 

Do you love to go off-road?

Then you'll appreciate the 2-inch suspension lift that comes standard on this model. It also comes with several other features that make this truck perfect for the wilderness adventure. 

·         Rancho monotube shocks

·         Special 18-inch wheels 

·         Goodyear Duratrac all-terrain tires 

·         Trailering package 

There's also an optional Z71 off-road package that'll beef up the truck even more.

It includes automatic locking rear differential, hill-descent control, skid plates, and 2-speed transfer case. 

4. LT 

If ride comfort is more your priority, then check out the LT with its automatic climate control.

It also has impressive technology features that include three USB ports, an 8-inch touchscreen, Onstar, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi. 

On the exterior, it has 17-inch alloy wheels and automatic LED headlights. 

5. RST 

The RST steps up the luxury and comfort with upgraded 18-inch wheels, LED fog lights, and a power-locking tailgate.

You'll also get a keyless entry and ignition system and two extra USB ports in the rear. 

6. LT Trail Boss 

Think of this model as an upgrade from the LT — but with the features of the RST and the off-roading package of the Custom Trail Boss thrown in.

What you get is the perfect truck for both off-roading and city street cruising. 

7. LTZ 

The next step up in the lineup adds dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a heated telescoping wheel.

As the driver, you'll find the ultimate in comfort with the 8-way power driver's seat. 

On the exterior, the side mirrors get an upgrade to power-folding and auto-dimming. 

8. High Country 

For those looking for the top of the line, you've found it in the High Country.

It's loaded with all the driver-assist features we all want and love. It comes with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic assist, and parking sensors. 

The interior gets an upgrade with ventilated front seats, upgraded digital gauges, a Bose audio system, and wireless smartphone charging. 

The exterior upgrades include a spray-in bed liner and power tailgate. 

Safety Features

No vehicle review would be complete without a discussion about safety.

Chevy prioritizes safety, and it's evident by the 2019 Silverado safety ratings

Standard on all models are dual-stage front airbags, seat-mounted side airbags, and head curtain airbags. Then for driving safety, hill-start assist, trailer sway control, and StabiliTrak electronic stability control come standard. 

There is an available Safety Package that comes with lane change alert, blind zone alert, and front and rear park assist. This package comes standard on the High Country. 

There is also an additional Package II safety package that is available for the LTZ and High Country that includes several more safety features.
