Buick is a classic American automobile company, with over a century's worth of experience in the industry. This brand name is closely associated with General Motors, which is also prestigious in our country.

For this reason, you may be in the market to purchase a vehicle from this renowned brand.

If you're interested in purchasing a 2020 Buick Encore, then read on. We're here to tell you everything you need to know about this car.

A General Overview of the Car

The 2020 Buick Encore is a subcompact crossover SUV. So if you want the features of an SUV, but in a smaller package, then this may be the vehicle for you.

Below are the trims available for the 2020 Buick Encore. Do note that for 2020, Buick's discontinued the turbocharged engine, so every trim has the 1.4L turbo-4 engine with 138 HP and 6-speed automatic transmission. They also all come with QuietTuning, which helps to block out excess noise from the road.

The most basic trim is the 1SV, which starts at $23,200. Because it's the standard trim, unfortunately, there are no packages you can get with it.

However, it does come with quite a many features! They include 2 USB ports, an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, a wifi hotspot, a 6-speaker stereo, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. You also get cloth seats, 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat, flat-folding passenger seat, and a rearview camera for your safety.

Next on the list is the Preferred trim, which starts at $24,600. It's only slightly more expensive than the 1SV, so as expected, it does have a few additional features.

What you gain with the Preferred trim is the option for all-wheel drive and available packages. For example, you can get the Safety package for just under $500, which comes with things like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

You can also opt for a moonroof for an additional $900 and remote start for $300.

Sport Touring

The Sport Touring is the next level trim and starts at $25,800. Like with the Preferred trim, you gain a little more from the last level. The most notable difference is you get remote start and a navigation system.

For $600, you can opt for a 7-speaker Bose stereo and HD radio. You also have the choice for all-wheel drive.

Last but not least, you have the Essence trim. This one starts at $29,300 and comes standard with the Safety package.

Its other features include leather seats, 6-way power-adjustable passenger seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

If you feel the standard Safety package isn't enough, then you can add the Safety Package II for $940. This includes things like land departure warning, forward collision warning, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and parking sensors in both the front and rear.

Want a navigation system and moonroof? Then you can add the Experience Buick package for $2,390.

Like with the other trims (besides 1SV), you can opt for all-wheel drive.

Interior Room

Since it's a subcompact crossover SUV, you might expect the 2020 Buick Encore to be cramped. But surprisingly, it's very roomy on the inside!

This vehicle seats up to 5 people and there is plenty of both head and legroom, whether you're sitting in the front or the back.

When it comes to cargo space, you get 18.8 cubic feet behind the rear seats. If you want even more room, you can fold down the passenger seats to get 48.4 cubic feet instead. This is pretty on par when compared to other subcompact crossover SUVs.

One of the most important parts of a vehicle is its infotainment system. Thankfully, the 2020 Buick Encore has one that'll impress you.

It has an 8-inch touchscreen that allows you to use either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. What's great is it's a very intuitive system, which means it won't take you long to learn how to use it. Plus, it's very easy to use while you're driving, which means it won't be distracting to navigate its controls.

As we mentioned above, all the trims come with a 1.4L turbo-4 engine with 138 HP.

If you're looking for a nice vehicle that can get you from point A to point B, then this shouldn't matter too much. The 6-speed automatic transmission and Quiet Tuning are beautifully designed just for you.

Fuel Economy

When driving an SUV, you'd expect the fuel economy to be dismal. But not with the 2020 Buick Encore!

With this car, you'll get around 25 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway. If you opt for all-wheel drive, you'll get around 24 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.

Either way, this is pretty impressive for an SUV; its great fuel economy is probably due to its smaller size.

The 2020 Buick Encore received a 5 out of 5 from the NHTSA. This, combined with its amazing safety features, will definitely give you peace of mind whenever you're behind the wheel.

The Encore's other impressive scores include a 5 out of 5 for its overall front star rating, 5 out of 5 for its overall side star rating, and 4 out of 5 for its rollover star rating, which is good for an SUV.
