The Chevrolet Tahoe first came out in 1991 and since then, has gone through 6 generations. As you can tell, this is an extremely popular full-size SUV, with it dominating 25% of the US market for this type of vehicle.

If you're looking to purchase a new car and have your eye on the Chevy Tahoe, then keep reading. In this article, we'll give you an overview of the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe so you can determine whether or not it's the right vehicle for you.

The Available Trims

The 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe is a full-size SUV that can seat up to 9 people. Standard seating includes 2 front bucket seats and row seats for the second and third row; together, this seats 8. To seat 9, you can choose bench seating for the front row in the LS trim.

As with most other vehicles, this one comes in several trims. They are the LS, LT, and Premier. Find out more about each trim below.

The LS is the most basic trim, which means it'll be the cheapest version available. This base trim starts at $48,000 and has a 5.3L V8 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission.

The standard features for the base trim include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Teen Driver system, and a rearview camera.

Should you want more safety features, you can add them through an additional package called the Enhanced Driver Alert package, which costs just short of $700. This includes things like power-adjustable pedals, automatic high beams, lane keep assist, and lane departure warning.

Other features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, 6-way power-adjustable passenger seat, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and rear parking sensors.

You can choose the Custom Edition package to save $4,200. This gets rid of the third-row seats, which means you can only seat 5 people.

The middle trim for this vehicle is the LT, which starts at $53,000. Just one trim up gets you more luxury, as the LT comes with leather upholstery and heated seats in the front.

You'll get all the features in the Enhanced Driver Alert package for free with this trim. Another package available is the Sun, Entertainment, and Destination one. You'll get a sunroof, as well as navigation and a rear-seat entertainment system for just $3,430 extra.

If you want added convenience, you can also get the Luxury package for $2,860. This includes proximity keyless entry, push-button start, heated steering wheel, hands-free liftgate, heated second-row seats, and a power-folding third row.

If you prefer bucket seats instead of row seating for your second row, you can pay $795 for that option.

The Premier is the most luxurious trim and it starts at $62,700. It comes with the same engine as the other two trims, but you can opt for a 6.2L V8 engine for an extra $4,930.

The features that come with the Premier trim are 12-way power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated seats in the front, proximity keyless entry, and push-button start. For the entertainment part, you'll get wireless device charging and 10-speaker Bose surround-sound system.

Safety features for the Premier include front parking sensors, blindspot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

If the basics of this trim aren't enough for you, you can also add either the Premier 6.2L Value bundle for $6,675 or the Premium Plus Edition package for $11,575.

Interior Space

For the most part, passengers in the first two rows will have plenty of space to work with. However, the third row may feel a bit cramped and is a lot more inaccessible than the other rows. For that reason, that row may be best saved for smaller children.

The 2020 Chevy Tahoe is a bit smaller in space when it comes to the cargo hold. However, it should still be big enough to haul whatever you need. Behind the third row, you have 15.3 cubic feet of space and 51.7 cubic feet behind the second.

If you fold the second and third rows down, you'll get and 94.7 cubic feet of cargo space.

Gas Mileage

Considering the 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe is a full-size SUV, you shouldn't expect terrific gas mileage out of it.

With the base engine, it gets about 22 MPG on the highway and 15 MPG in the city. If you choose the better engine, it'll still get 22 MPG on the highway, but 14 MPG in the city.

When compared to other full-size SUVs, this isn't too bad.

Safety Rating

The 2020 Chevy Tahoe received 4 out of 5 stars from the NHTSA for its overall safety rating.

This car got 4 out of 5 stars for the overall front star rating and 5 out of 5 stars for the overall side star rating.

Infotainment System

All of the trims come standard with the Chevrolet Infotainment System. It features an 8-inch touchscreen that's very easy to use. Not only that, but it has quick response times, which keep you safe on the road.

Other standard features include a 6-speaker audio system, satellite radio, HD radio, Bluetooth, and up to 7 USB ports. You can also pay extra to get upgraded features, such as a 9-speaker Bose premium audio system or rear-seat DVD player.
